the fright of his life when he found a 1.5 metre Egyptian Spitting
Cobra coiled beneath the accelerator of his car, reported 'The
Citizen' magazine.
The unnamed undertaker made the startling discovery following a shopping trip in the town of Nelspruit. ''I just slammed the door shut and shouted for help'', he told the magazine yesterday.
Passers-by, unable to see the snake with the door closed and naturally unwilling to open it, were nonplussed until a plucky mechanic used his car lift to get a better view.
The cobra, one of the world's most venomous snakes, was eventually removed from the vehicle by a fireman and released into a nearby national park.
