New Delhi, Nov 09: Amidst growing resentment over ticket distribution for the Delhi Assembly elections, BJP yesterday failed to finalise the second list of candidates for 31 constituencies and put off the decision till today.
The party has already named candidates for 35 seats in the 70-member house and after leaving four for NDA ally Akali Dal, it was to finalise the names for rest of the constituencies yesterday.
After the three-hour meeting of party's central election committee at Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's residence, a senior party leader said the committee considered Madhya Pradesh only and did not take up the Delhi list for finalisation.
However, party insiders said voices of dissent witnessed after release of the first list on Thursday had made things difficult forcing the delay.
In the first signs of open rebellion, Rajesh Sharma, who represented the party in the Assembly from Hauz Khas between 1993 and 98, faxed his resignation letter to Delhi BJP president Madan Lal Khurana, three days after the party fielded Arti Mehra from the constituency from where he wanted to contest.
