India`s National Defence College team in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, Sept 23: With the aim of familiarising itself with the political, defence and foreign policies of neighbouring countries, a 21-member team of India`s National Defence College (NDC) is in Nepal on a four-day visit.
Kathmandu, Sept 23: With the aim of familiarising itself with the political, defence and foreign policies of neighbouring countries, a 21-member team of India's National Defence College (NDC) is in Nepal on a four-day visit.
The tour is part of the college curriculum and will comprise meetings with senior Nepalese leaders and officials, an Indian embassy press release said here.
The team, led by Maj Gen Ashok Vasudeva of the senior directing staff of the NDC, will meet Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa, chief secretary Bimal Koirala and foreign and defence secretaries. It will also exchange views with civil and military officers in Nepal. They are also scheduled to meet SAARC secretary general Qama Rahim and Chief of Army Staff General Pyar Jung Thapa, the release said.
Besides Indian civil and military officers, the visiting team has officers from Algeria, Thailand, Philippines, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
NDC is an apex institution engaged in the study of policies at the national and international levels which senior military and civilian officials may be called upon to handle in the course of their careers.
