New Delhi, Oct 15: Expressing reservation over the Election Commission directive asking the Centre not to advertise its achievements in states going to polls, BJP today asked it to reconsider the order as it "deprived" people of information pertaining to developmental projects.
"In India elections and bye-elections are held almost every year even though we want simultaneous elections to assemblies and Lok Sabha. But, due to these elections, people should not be deprived of information regarding various developmental projects undertaken by the central government," party spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters here.

He said after all it was the responsibility of the central government to reach out to the people at all levels and keep them informed of the various programmes and measures undertaken by it for their welfare. He said it was in view of the EC directive that the Centre had refrained from telecasting the serial "makers of modern India" with the life of Ram Manohar Lohia being the first in the series to have been telecast on October 10.
