CMP of UPA to be released on May 27
New Delhi, May 24: Congress today said the Common Minimum Programme of the United Progressive Alliance to ensure smooth functioning of the Manmohan Singh government would be released on May 27.
New Delhi, May 24: Congress today said the Common Minimum Programme of the United Progressive Alliance to ensure smooth functioning of the Manmohan Singh government would be released on May 27.
The name of the UPA leader would also be announced on May 27, the death anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, party spokesman Anand Sharma told reporters here.
"UPA leaders met last night and discussed its priorities and CMP. It will meet again on May 26 to finalise its shape. The CMP will be released on May 27 and the name of UPA leader will also be announced the same day," he said.
The party has already hinted that its president Sonia Gandhi would be the chairperson of UPA as the Congress is heading it.
Sharma lauded Gandhi for her efforts in bringing Congress back to power saying this "the shift, therefore, will significant as we have to fulfil late prime minister's vision for the 21st century".
Asked why chargesheeted persons like Laloo Prasad Yadav, Taslimuddin and Sibu Soren were inducted into Union cabinet in spite of the fact that the party had opposed chargesheeted ministers in the NDA government, he merely said it was decided by alliance partners.
