Agartala, Nov 07: A massive combing operation is on in Bamancherra and neighbouring areas of Dhalai district where two tribal insurgents were killed yesterday, police said today. However, no other insurgent has been traced so far, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of state police and Assam Rifles raided a hideout of banned National Liberation Front of Tripura at Bamancherra, a remote tribal hamlet in Dhalai district, yesterday.

When the security personnel reached there, the ultras started firing at the security forces who retaliated.

After a half-an-hour long encounter, the ultras managed to flee under the cover of darkness and the security personnel on search found two bullet-riddled bodies in the area.

Meanwhile, police busted an extremist hideout at Myganga under Teliamura Police Station of West Tripura district last night and recovered a bomb weighing more than three kgs.
