Mumbai, Nov 12: Three Pakistani fishing boats with 41 crew members were apprehended by coast guards near the Indian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) yesterday.
The fishing boats were spotted by the coast guard ship, `Sangram', under the command of Deputy Inspector General Rajendra Singh, while on routine patrol off the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), coast guard sources said here today. The boats were engaged in fishing about 30 kms inside the EEZ, in violation of the maritime zones of India act, the sources said adding, the apprehended boats have been brought here to be handed over to the local police for further legal action.
Keeping in view the current security scenario, the coast guard had enhanced patrol in and around the IMBL and was maintaining strict vigil over the ongoing fishing activities in the area close to the IMBL, the sources said.
Earlier, on November 7, two Pakistani boats with 29 crew were also apprehended by the coast guard.
