Dehradun, Aug 21: An unwed mother, who was allegedly pressurised to withdraw rape charges against former Uttaranchal revenue minister Harak Singh Rawat, today received legal support from an NGO here. Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra (RLEK), which moved the court of chief judicial magistrate Giridhar Singh Dharamshaktu for providing support to her urged for dismissal of the defamation case filed against her by Rawat.

The petition filed by RLEK chairman Avadhesh Kaushal also said the defamation case filed by Rawat before the CJM may be transferred to the CBI court which is already investigating the scandal or it may be kept in abeyance till the CBI court decides on the matter. Rawat on August 04 had filed a defamation case against the unwed mother stating that his image was being tarnished due to the 'false' rape charges levelled against him.

The legal support came a day after an inquiry report found that a lady cook had tried to pressurise her to withdraw rape charges against Rawat.
