Chennai, Aug 03: AICC secretary G K Vasan today said that it did not befit the stature of top leaders like Prime Minister A B Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani to echo views in favour of Ram Temple construction at Ayodhya when the matter was before the court.
It had become the "policy" of BJP to speak about construction of ram temple in Ayodhya at a time when elections were round the corner in the country, he said here in a statement.
Referring to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's speech in Coimbatore on Saturday on Congress president Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin, the AICC secretary said BJP including Modi was 'repeatedly raking up a non-issue'. "The next Lok Sabha elections will prove that Sonia Gandhi is the only leader accepted by all people in the country and her becoming the Prime Minister is the compulsion of time," Vasan said.
Condemning Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for her support to construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, he said her government should give its attention on welfare schemes for the people instead of filing defamation cases against newspapers and party leaders. Bureau Report
