New Delhi, Apr 26: The Supreme Court has refused to ban exit polls that will be telecast today after the second phase of polling. But a final decision on the matter would be taken before the third phase of elections before May 05. Meanwhile, the court has sent notices to the Centre, the Election Commission, and television news channels - Zee, Star, Sahara and Aaj Tak. The date of the next hearing has not been fixed but would take place before the third phase of elections, which are slated for May 05. The PIL seeking ban on publication, broadcast and telecast of exit polls mentions that they are contrary to Section 126 of Representation of People Act and "affected the mental makeup of the electorate and influenced the exercise of franchise by them".
