Kerala expresses reservations about BPL families
Thiruvananthapuram, July 30: Kerala has informed the Planning Commission of its reservation against the decision to determine the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families on the basis of their expenditure level instead of their income.

This was disclosed in the assembly today by state rural development minister C F Thomas.
The norms in this regard were revised by the Planning Commission recently. The state government, through a represention had told the commission that this was not acceptable to the state, he said in reply to questions.
The government would also take up the matter with the union government, he added.
