Imphal, Dec 02: Over 100 trucks loaded with essential items have been stranded at Mao Gate on the Manipur-Nagaland border because of indefinite economic blockade on the Manipur section of the Imphal-Dimapur National Hhighway 39, official reports said today. Reports said that the blockade, which began from midnight of December 01, severely affected the movement of Manipur-bound vehicles loaded with essential items.

The Senapati District Students Union had launched the blockade to demand arrest of killers of eight-year old Lungnila Elizabeth, daughter of the general aadministration minister Francis Ngajokpa.

The government has appealed to the students to call off the blockade, stating that all possible steps have been taken to arrest the killers of Elizabeth, official sources said.

Elizabeth was kidnapped by unknown militants on November 04 and killed on November 12. Bureau Report
