Court reserves order on Majnu`s trial in bomb blast case
Mumbai, June 25: A special court today reserved its order until June 27 on joining 1993 bomb blast accused Mustaffa Majnu in the ongoing trial and remanded him to judicial custody till June 30.
Majnu, brother of prime absconding accused Mohammed Dossa, was deported on March 20 from Dubai and arrested at a stage when the trial in the main case has reached its fag end.
In case of Majnu, a legal issue has cropped up as his
name does not figure in the list of accused or absconding
accused filed by CBI. His involvement figured in confession of
co-accused, defence lawyer Farhana Shah told a news agency.
CBI filed supplementary chargesheet against Majnu on may
three. CBI alleged that Mustaffa was deeply involved in the
conspiracy and had attended a meeting in Dubai at the house of
main conspirator Dawood Ibrahim.
Mustaffa is also charged with sending his men to Dighi
coast in Raigad district on January nine 1993 for landing of
arms and ammunition used in the serial explosions.
In February 1993 some accused went to Pakistan via Dubai
for arms training and stayed with Mustaffa in the Gulf.
Mustaffa also took them to Dawood Ibrahim, CBI alleged.
Mustaffa is also charged with making travel arrangements
for departure of co-accused Ahmed Lambu, Sayyed Qureshi, Yusuf Batka, Abu Baker and Shoeb Baba to Pakistan for arms training.
Mustaffa's involvement came to light in 1995 but he could
not be traced then. The court issued arrest warrant against
him. Later, proclamation order was issued and his properties
were attached.
