Thiruvanthapuram, Apr 11: Public sector Hindustan Latex Ltd has recorded its highest ever turnover of Rs 150 crore during 2002-2003, registering a growth of 20 per cent compared to the previous year. The company also registered the highest ever profits of Rs 20.30 crore during the last fiscal with a growth rate of 31.30 per cent, company CMD G Rajamohan told reporters on Thursday night.
Hindustan Latex declared an interim dividend of Rs 2.50 crore to the union government for the period, he said.
HLL was currently in the process of conducting nationwide field tests to ascertain user response and acceptance of female condoms. The unit to be set up shortly would be an export oriented one and have an annual installed capacity of 80 lakh pieces, he said.
Hindustan Latex's performance on export front has been significant with an achievement of Rs 13 crore, a growth of 41.3 per cent over the previous year.
As part of its diversification programme, the company set up a unit for the manufacture of surgical sutures at Akkulam with an installed capacity for production of 15 lakh individual strips per annum. Bureau Report
