7,500 more Anganwari centres being set up in J&K
Jammu, Nov 04: As many as 7,500 more Anganwari centres will be opened in Jammu and Kashmir during the next two years to provide nutrition, health cover and other facilities to children and lactating mothers in the state under the centrally sponsored ICDS projects.

Setting up of 1,500 Anganwari centres will create
employment for 15,000 women as workers and helpers, state
Social Welfare Minister Mula Ram said at a meeting of officers
held here today.
One more ICDS project has recently been sanctioned for Batwara in Srinagar with 130 Anganwari centres, he said, adding honourarium of the Anganwari workers and helpers has also been enhanced by Rs 500 and Rs 240 per month, respectively.
The government is contemplating construction of buildings for nari niketans at Kupwara, balashrams at Mahore, Kishtwar, Handwara and Shopian, the minister said.
The government has also enhanced the corpus of the state rehabilitation council to Rs 100 crore for speedy rehabilitation of militancy victims.
The government has also launched a contributory social security scheme for the workers with a matching contribution of Rs 100 each from the government and the workers, Mula Ram said.
