New Delhi, Jan 29: The Supreme Court has issued notices to Bihar government and SSP Patna on a petition by a bank officer alleging that criminals and local police were threatening him and his family not to pursue a case of looting and kidnapping registered by him.

Issuing notices to state government through Director General of Police and the SSP, a bench comprising Justice M B Shah and Justice Arun Kumar sought reply from them within four weeks. The petitioner Onkar Sharma alleged that that criminals and local police are threatening him and his family and the state government was not providing security to them and their property.

Sharma, who sought transfer to Delhi apprehending danger to his life, submitted that he was kidnapped and looted when he was posted in rural branch at Korraiyya Sultanpur in Patna district as a manager in 1998.
The petitioner said apprehending threat from criminals in the area he had earlier sought security for him and the bank from the SSP and district magistrate but to no avail.

The bank officer alleged that whenever he goes to Bihar for pursuing his criminal case and to look after his parents and agricultural land, he is being threatened by unidentified criminals to face dire consequences.

He claimed that he had even approached the NHRC, which closed the case after receiving reply from DGP Bihar that the case was pending before the lower court. The petitioner alleged that SSP Patna, who is posted there for quite a long time, had ignored the letter of district magistrate to provide security to him and the bank.
