Ballia, Jan 22: Former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar today said he would lend all cooperation in the formation of a secular front for the coming Lok Sabha elections, if there is any "initiative" from NCP leader Sharad Pawar, CPI (M) leader H S Surjeet and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. "The national executive of the Samajwadi Janata Party (SJP) in its recent meeting had decided to fight the parliamentary elections in alliance with secular forces and letters were written to all secular parties intimating them about the decision," said Chandrashekhar.
Chandrashekhar denied reports that his Samajwadi Janata Party had held any talks with the Congress for joining hands with the latter in fighting the coming Lok Sabha polls.
"We have received a reply of the letter from Congress president Sonia Gandhi in which she had expressed happiness at the SJP proposal," he said. Bureau Report
