Bhopal, Feb 13: Claiming to make Madhya Pradesh a ''swarna rajya'' in the next three years, Chief Minister Uma Bharati today said the state should be placed in a special category for its infrastructural development. ''I will make a request in this regard to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” she said.
Addressing a symposium organised by the central press club here, Bharati said she had even met President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam in this regard and invited him to visit Madhya Pradesh.
The Chief Minister maintained that the contours for development had been mapped and a goal had been set to make it a '' Swarana Rajya'' in the next three years.
Bharati said that she would appeal to the Prime Minister to keep Madhya Pradesh in a special class for improving the condition of roads. ''to have a good road apparatus, fiscal assistance of nearly Rs 15000 crore is required'', she said, adding, ''looking into the money factor, we will also try to seek help from the people''.
Elucidating other schemes, she said there was a proposal to invite experts in different areas every fortnight to disseminate expertise on the related subject. ''we will also get guidance for bolstering development in different spheres of activity''.
The Chief Minister said that her government would set a roadmap for development while keeping five subjects, including '' jan'', zameen'', '' jal'', jungle'' and ''janwar'', into mind.
''We will present our report card in three years and spend the next two years in rectifying our mistakes.”
