Mumbai, Jan 16: The Mumbai High Court will today hear the petition filed by former Mumbai Police Commissioner R S Sharma, challenging appointment of S S Puri as SIT chief with the rank of Director General of Police to probe the fake stamps scam.
The bail application of encounter specialist Pradeep Sawant will come up for hearing in Pune court today.
On Monday, prime accused in the racket Abdul Karim Telgi told the SIT that he bribed the former Mumbai Police Commissioner R S Sharma with Rs 22 lakh and former Telugu Desam Party MLA C Krishna Yadav with Rs 32 lakh during his narco analysis test.
Yesterday he sent ripples across political circles by revealing that former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Desmukh had helped him obtain a license to start a business selling stamps in 1994.
Telgi had also reportedly mentioned the name "Bhujbal" in his confessions.
