Jammu, Nov 03: Anticipating a spurt in terrorism with the onset of snowfall, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Gopal Sharma has asked police officials to maintain high alert and launch concerted operations against terrorists and those aiding them.
With the onset of winter season and snowfall, mountain passes would get closed and they cannot get adequate support from across the border. Under such situation there is every possibility of terrorists harassing and harming local people if they fail to get local support, he said.
Addressing police officials and other para-military forces last night, the DGP urged the police to "rise to the occasion and foil the wicked designs and machinations of terrorists and their supporters and pre-empt any damage that could be done to people by the terrorists".
Emphasising on utmost vigil, Sharma exhorted officers to continue anti-militancy operations with renewed vigor and commitment.
