New Delhi, Nov 19: A city court has ordered framing
of criminal intimidation charges against a Congress councillor
from East Delhi over allegations that he had forcibly evicted
a jhuggi dweller and grabbed the land.
Acting on a complaint by one Vijay Bahadur, additional
chief metropolitan magistrate Vinod Kumar in his order said a
prima facie case under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) was
made out against Bansi Lal, and directed that charges be
framed against him.
A member of the MCD, Lal represents the party from Geeta Colony in East Delhi.
The court also ordered framing of charges under Section 452 (house trespass), Section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and Section 147 (punishment for rioting) against Lal and 5 co-accused. The charges would be framed tomorrow.
Bahadur in his complaint filed on March 3, 1996, had alleged that Lal along with supporters came to his jhuggi, which was located in a piece of land belonging to DDA, and threatened him with dire consequences if he did not vacate it.
He alleged that the attackers pulled him by the hair and kicked his wife.
They finally forced him to vacate the land, built flats on it and sold them off, Bahadur claimed. Bureau Report
