Shahi meets Buddhadev
Kolkata, July 01: Union power secretary R V Shahi today met West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee and was understood to have discussed the prospects of private sector participation in power generation in the state.

Apart from the private power utility CESC Limited, the
state's generation rests solely on plants run by the West
Bengal State Electricity Board, besides Power Development
Corporation, Durgapur Projects Limited and the central sector
NTPC and the DVC.
Shahi was also believed to have raised the issue of outstanding dues of Rs 1168.05 crore of the state electricity board to the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
Officials said that state's power secretary K Bagchi was present at the meeting.
The Chief Minister and Union power secretary refused to speak to the press.
