Lucknow, Oct 18: Uttar Pradesh government today claimed a 20 per cent decline in criminal cases in the state during the past five months. Director general of UP police R M Shukla told newspersons here that the decline was the result of the anti-criminal drive launched in the state recently.
Crime against women have come down by 35 per cent and against persons belonging to the scheduled castes and tribes by 23 per cent during this period, he said adding 126 notorious criminals were gunned down and several others arrested. Bureau Report
