New Delhi, Sept 18: Shiv Sena has made a strong plea to the Centre to increase the free sale quota for sugar in the next three months due to the festive season.

In a letter to the Food Minister Sharad Yadav, convenor
of the Shiv Sena'a action committee on essential commodities
Kanhaiyalal Gidwani wanted release of 12 lakh tonnes each in
October and November and 11 lakh tonnes in December in view of
Dussera, Diwali and Christmas.
"In the event that more quantity is not released, there will be a situation of short supply in open market and an increase in prices in the festive season," he added. Bureau Report
