Vadodara,July 06: Seventy lawyers of Vadodara have filed a written request with the judge of the fast track additional sessions court urging reference to the Gujarat High Court so that proceedings of contempt of court can be initiated against National Human Rights Commission Chairman, Justice A S Anand for his remarks terming the Best Bakery case accused acquittal as a miscarriage of justice. The written request was filed before judge H U Mahida who had heard the Best Bakery case and given the verdict acquitting all the 21 accused. Fourteen people, including women and children, all belonging to the minority community had perished in the mob arson at Best Bakery in Baroda during the communal riots in the aftermath of the Godhra bogie burning incident. The former Supreme Court chief justice and current chairman of the NHRC had termed the judgement as a miscarriage of justice and said that the Gujarat Govet must appeal against the judgement.
