No end to accolades for victorious Indian hockey team
New Delhi, Sept 29: Accolades continued to pour for the Indian hockey team which registered its maiden Asia Cup triumph, beating Pakistan 4-2 in the final in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, yesterday.

Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Vijay Goel, in his message to the captain Dhanraj Pillay and the rest of the team members said, "India is proud of this magnificent win.
"It is now certain that the golden days of Indian hockey is back. Similar performance from you would definitely fetch the gold medal in the Olympics next year.
"Every Indian is jubilant of this grand victory," the minister said. Joining Goel in congratulating the Indian team was Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, former Sports Minister and Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers.
"This victory would give stimulus to the Indian sports landscape besides enthusing the budding players to achieve excellence in the prestigious game," the two Ministers said in a joint statement.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi did not want to be left behind. She said "The spectacular win against Pakistan was really memorable" and added that "our team has lived upto the high traditions of Indian hockey".
