Dhar, Apr 06: Reiterating his position on the issue of opening of the locks of the disputed Bhojshala-Kamal Moula mosque here, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh said today that it could be opened only through an order of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Bhojshala was the property of ASI and it alone is authorised to issue a clear order on opening of its locks, as in the year 1998 it was closed on its order only, Singh told reporters.
Denying that he was communalising the issue, he said the locks could be opened through ASI order under Section 18 (Rule 4) of the ancient monument protection act.
“Once they issued clear orders in this regard I will ensure that it is followed strictly. I want an order, not suggestions,” the Chief Minister said.
Singh alleged that BJP was taking advantage of the people's ignorance on the issue and unnecessarily raking it up to divide people on communal lines. He also expressed grief over the death of three persons in the recent communal violence in the district following agitation by the Hindu Jagaran Manch on the issue.

On the claim made by the minorities commission that Bhojshala was the property of the Wakf board, Singh said that he has given instructions to the Wakf board to examine the claim.

He also said that in an affidavit filed by ASI in the high court, the Bhojshala was described as a mosque.
On the stand-off between the election commission and the state government over irregularities in the voters list, he said at present Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has given the stay and the EC has not yet served the chargesheet to the erring officials.
