Chandigarh, May 31: Heat wave continued unabated in the north-west region today with the temperature in Hisar, Haryana and Amritsar in Punjab touching a high of 44.2 degree celsius. Frequent tripping of power supply and low water pressure added to the woes of the people in the region. While Amritsar recorded 44.2 degree celsius, four degrees above normal, Hisar with similar temperature, was two degrees above normal, a met office spokesman said here. Ludhiana reeled under a high of 42.9 degree celsius, the mercury touched 42.6 in Patiala and 41.7 in Ambala.
The city of Chandigarh had a maximum temperature of 41.4 degree celsius, two degrees above normal.

There would be no respite from the heat wave as the weather office has forecast mainly dry weather in the region over the next two days.
However, no heat-wave death has been reported from Punjab and Haryana so far.
