New Delhi, June 10: Delhi Police today said they have smashed an organised international syndicate involved in defrauding Hutchinson Essar Cellular Company to the tune of Rs 90 lakh with the arrest of four persons, including a senior officer of the affected company.
The cellular company had lodged a complaint with special cell of Delhi Police that its fraudulently-acquired 19 Sim cards with global roaming facility had got activated in the US causing loss to it, police said.
Investigations by police revealed that 49 Sim cards had been obtained under the false pretext that they were required for corporate connection for M/s Prime Net Global Ltd and 19 of these had been activated, they said.
However, inquiries with Prime Net, located in Shivaji Marg here, revealed that no such cards had been obtained by the company.
It came to light that these had been got fraudulently issued in the name of the company by a former employee Saurav Chatterjee allegedly with the connivance of Amit Chaudhary, manager, relationship (sales), Hutchinson Essar, police said.
The duo was arrested and duplicate stamp in the name of Prime Net which was used to obtain the Sim cards, besides 24 Sim cards of Airtel, were seized from them, they said.
