New Delhi, Aug 10: India's K Kalyani won three gold medals in the Asian Junior Weightlifting Championship being held in Bali, Indonesia. Kalyani, who is the sister of veteran weightlifter Karnam Malleswari, dominated girls’ 48 kg section securing top positions in snatch, jerk and overall categories, according to information received here.
Besides Kalyani, P Haritha and Sarvajeet are also representing India in the championship. Earlier, Indian lifters finished third behind Indonesia and Chinese Taipei in the 5th Asian Youth Weightlifting Championships held in Bali from August 5 to 8. India bagged a total of 12 medals in the competition including four golds, seven silvers and a bronze. Bureau Report
