Tiruchirapalli, June 15: With the death of former Tamil Nadu minister T Kiruttinan, the "seeds for the downfall of the DMK has been sown", Shiva Sena state senior organiser, S H Jayaraj, said today. Jayaraj told reporters here that DMK president M Karunanidhi's action in promoting one group in his party was an indication of the "imminent disintegration of the DMK".

On the electoral alliance for the coming Lok Sabha polls, he said his party would not have any tie-up with the DMK despite DMK being a NDA constituent. His party preferred to either go it alone in the state or try to form an alliance with the AIADMK.

In any case, the actual decision on the question of alliance would be decided only at the time of the polls, he said.
As part of its exercise to strengthen its base in the state, the party proposed to hold a state level convention at Nagercoil on June 23, which is expected to be attended by Sena's Lok Sabha member Shivaji Mane, who was also a national coordinator.

Appreciating the Jayalalithaa government in the state for enacting bold laws and regulations like ban on smoking in public places and anti-conversion bill, he said the government should also bring a law to prevent school children being given the pin-up photographs and portraits of film stars as book wrappers.
