New Delhi, Aug 01: The Association of the Victims of Uphaar Tragedy (AVUT) today vehemently opposed the Ansals' plea for releasing the Uphaar Cimena Hall where 59 people were killed during the screening of Hindi blockbuster "border" here in June 1997. Maintaining that it was the discretion of the trial court to decide at what stage it would like to inspect the site of occurrence, Tulsi submitted that "it would be better if the inspection is done at the end of the recording of the evidence".

If the trial court inspects the building at the fag end of the trial, it helps the judge appreciate the evidence in the proper perspective, he said.

Ansals' counsel Ram Jethmalani contended that inspection, if any, has to take place at the beginning of the trial and the building could not be kept sealed for long.
He suggested that the court could order video recording of Uphaar and the same could be used by it to appreciate evidence.

However, the court adjourned the case to August 5 when CBI would make submissions.
