New Delhi, Dec 15: Inflation fell marginally by 0.05 per cent to 3.4 per cent for the week ending November 30 despite a massive downward pressure exerted by vegetable prices.
The Index was 3.45 per cent in the previous week and 2.14 per cent in the year-ago period.
Though some primary items became cheaper, the slide in inflation, as measured by Wholesale Price Index (WPI), was to a great extend influenced by a sharp price increase in certain manufactured products, which is the heaviest in the basket.
Close on the heels of point-to-point inflation, WPI fell by 0.1 per cent to 167.5 from 167.7 in the previous week, even as fuels group largely remained unaffected. The Index was 162 a year ago.
The final WPI stood corrected at 167.4 for the week ended on October 5 as compared to the provisional level of 167.3.

The final Inflation was at 3.08 per cent as against the provisional mark of 3.02 per cent.
A perceptible 0.6 per cent dip in the price of food items was largely nullified by a sharp one per cent increase in the price of non-food articles, resulting in a mere 0.2 per cent dip in the Index for primary articles' group to 176.2 and the Index was 169.6 in the previous year.
