New Delhi, Sept 30: BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu today said there was need for the setting up of a mechanism by the review committee on Pota for redressal of cases under this act so that it is not misused. "I suggested the need for a mechanism by the review committee on Pota for redressal of cases under this act. It is needed so that there is no misapplication of the act," he told reporters here after an hour-long meeting with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

He said that the government can request the review committee on Pota to evolve a mechanism for redressal of cases under this act for apparently Misa (Maintenance of Internal Security Act) had a state-level review committee for this purpose.
Naidu said that the party was clear that Pota is needed and there is no question of repealing it because of the ISI menace and that of terrorism.

He said that Vajpayee expressed satisfaction on the outcome of the byelections to the Lok Sabha and assemblies.
They also discussed the recent political developments in the country though Naidu declined to elaborate on the issues that figured at the meeting.
Asked whether the fallout of the resignation of HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi had figured at the meeting, he said, "it is a closed chapter."
