New Delhi, Sept 11: Government tonight approved the proposal for development of a radar imaging satellite with a view to provide all weather imaging capability from space. The Radar Imaging Satellite (RISAT) mission is estimated to cost Rs 378.49 crore with a foreign exchange component of Rs 263.23 crore, an official spokesman told reporters after a Cabinet meeting. RISAT mission envisages to support and augment the operation of remote sensing programme in the country and is slated for launch by 2006 with a mission life of five years, the spokesman said.
