Mangalore, Jan 15: Former Karnataka chief minister M Veerappa Moily today alleged that the "blackmail tactics" of Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu had led to the early general elections.
"It (the decision of holding early elections) was not the concept of either the BJP or the NDA government, but the tactics of Naidu", he said. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister forced the NDA government to hold early elections to encash on the attempt on his life during November last and to get mileage out of it, he charged.
"Fearing he may lose the elections if held after March 31, Naidu forced early elections, he alleged. The Election Commission had said that if elections were not held in Andhra Pradesh before March 31, the state would have to come under President's rule, he said.
"The Naidu government is collapsing there because of Chandrasekhara Rao, a leader in Telengana area who is raising the Telengana issue," he said. Bureau Report
