The Frenchwoman is the fourth qualifier for the prestigious season-ending tournament at the Los Angeles Staples Center in November.
She joins world number one Justine Henin-Hardenne, her fellow Belgian and world number two Kim Clijsters along with fifth-ranked American Jennifer Capriati in the eight-player round robin singles field.
Serena Williams and Lindsay Davenport, who had also qualified, have already withdrawn due to injuries.
Mauresmo, 24, is currently sixth in the race to the championships standings with 2,440 points.
She has had a strong year since returning in February from a right knee injury, winning an event in Warsaw in early May, reaching three finals (Paris Indoors, Rome and Moscow) and was a quarter-finalist at the French Open and the US Open.
