New Delhi, Jun 01: India's Leander Paes joined compatriot Mahesh Bhupathi in the third round of the French Open men's doubles event when he partnering David Rikl of Czech Republic beat the US pair of Rick Leach and Brian Macphie at the Roland Garros last night.
Staging a remarkable recovery after losing the first set, the fifth seeded Indo-Czech pair brushed aside the challenge of Leach and Macphie in the next two sets to win the match 3-6 6-2 6-1.
Earlier yesterday, Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi of Belarus cruised to the third round with a 6-3 6-4 victory over the French pair of Thierry Ascione and Julien Varlet at Paris.
