New Delhi, Jan 17: A Delhi court today directed police to produce a cassette purportedly containing a speech made by Lok Sabha MP Simranjit Singh Mann at the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib here over two decades ago, wherein he is alleged to have supported the cause of Khalistan. The direction came from additional sessions judge, who was hearing final arguments in the Tada case against Mann.

As the prosecution began its arguments, Mann's counsel prayed the court to hear the tape before proceeding further. The court then adjourned the hearing till February 7.
Mann was booked under the anti-terror law for allegedly delivering a pro-Khalistan speech at the gurudwara on April 7, 1991.

However, the case was closed in April 2002 with the court citing lack of interest on the part of prosecution to pursue it. But the supreme court revived the matter saying the proper procedure had not been followed.
ASJ Malik's predecessor S N Dhingra then framed charges under Section 124a (sedition) of Indian Penal Code and Section 4(2) of Tada against the MP in February last.
