New Delhi, July 14: The Supreme Court today directed police authorities to provide adequate security to Uttar Pradesh government's former counsel Ajay Aggarwal who alleged that he and his family had received life threat by the suspended principal secretary of the state. A bench comprising Justice M B Shah and Justice A R Lakshmanan directed the Delhi Police Commissioner and the director general of UP Police to provide adequate security to Aggarwal and his family members.
Aggarwal alleged that as he knew certain facts pertaining to the construction of the Taj Heritage Corridor, he was threatened by the principal secretary R K Sharma not to divulge any such detail to the court and was threatened with life if he acted to the contrary. He said after he complained about this incident to the chief secretary last month, he was removed as the standing counsel for the state.
However, counsel for the state government submitted that there had been cross allegations between Sharma and Aggarwal and the state government has already suspended Sharma for his alleged role in the corridor construction controversy. The bench said it would hear the matter in detail on July 16 along with the matter relating to alleged irregularities in the corridor project construction. Bureau Report
