New Delhi, Oct 13: Tata group chairman Ratan Tata today said government's decision to restrict WLL mobile services within a local call area, known as short distance charging area (SDCA), will not have any adverse impact on Tata's WLL operations as the company was "abiding" by the terms and conditions of the licence. "We have been abiding by the rules... Our WLL services are as per the licence," Tata said on the sidelines of a conference of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Last night, the Group of Ministers (GoM) headed by Finance Minister Jaswant Singh had decided to implement TDSAT ruling restricting the mobility on WLL phones within SDCA.
Asked whether Tata Telecom was offering call forwarding and multiple registration on its WLL connections, Tata said "We are offering the services as per the licence and our operations will not be affected by government's decision."
He, however, declined to comment on the development saying "I have yet to see all the details”. Bureau Report
