Lucknow, Jan 08: South Korean ambassador to India Kuan Soo Tai today called on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav here to explore the possibilities of capital investment in various sectors in the state. Korea has already made an approximate Rs 1,800 crore capital investment in the state in automobile, power, electronics, household appliances, chemicals, surgical equipment and textile sectors, official sources said.


During the meeting, Yadav told the Korean ambassador that the sectors which offered immense possibilities for investment included infrastructure development, high-tech cities, power, international airports, roads, bridges, industrial estates, it, small and medium industries, tourism and energy.

Thanking the Korean government for making Rs 1,800 crore capital investment in the state, the chief minister said the ties between UP and Korea could accelerate the process of economic development in the state.
Recalling Ayodhya's 2000-year-old historical and cultural ties with Korea, Yadav said the princess of Ayodhya had been married to King Soo Ro, ruler of the prominent Korean city Kim Hae.

Kuan, while emphasising the need for strengthening of relations between UP and Korea, said an MoU had been signed between the mayor of Kim Hae and the chairman of Ayodhya municipality in 2000 for setting up twin-sister cities.
In March 2000, a protocol between Greater Noida and industry association of Kim Hae city had been signed for strengthening industrial ties, he said.
