Moscow, Feb 21: The death toll in the collapse of a roof at a Moscow water park has risen to 27 after a victim died from injuries sustained in the disaster, the Interfax news agency reported on Saturday.
A 29-year-old woman died in hospital on late Friday, the agency quoted medical sources as saying. The mayor of Moscow said on Wednesday that no more bodies remained under the rubble of the popular leisure site. "We can confirm with certitude that there are no more bodies in the rubble," Yury Luzhkov said. Authorities had said up to 11 people were still missing from the February 14 disaster at Transvaal Park, but those people were apparently not at the park when the roof came crashing down on the swimmers. Forty-four people remain hospitalised from the accident, and a criminal inquiry has opened into the causes. Prosecutors have temporarily suspended the license of Kocat Insaat, the Turkish company that built the luxury facility.
