Colorado Springs (USA), June 25: A California swimmer
was suspended from competition for four years for testing
positive for an anabolic steroid, the US anti-doping agency
said.
An arbitration panel said Kicker Vencill, of Aliso Viejo,
California, tested positive for the banned substance
19-norandrosterone on Jan. 21, 2003. The 25-year-old's
suspension from national and international sanctioned
competition began in January.
USA swimming will carry out the sanction, officials said
today.
The US anti-doping agency, an independent agency funded
by the federal government, oversees drug-testing of American
athletes.
