New Delhi, Oct 30: Amid Congress' circumspect response to Samajwadi Party's repeated calls to help topple Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh, State Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Pramod Tiwari tonight met party president Sonia Gandhi here along with seven party MLAs, sources said. Tiwari and the MLAs are understood to have briefed Gandhi on the political situation in the state following rebellion by some BJP MLAs and independents supporting the BSP-BJP government in the state.
Congress leader Moti Lal Vora, in-charge of UP, was also present at the meeting which lasted for about an hour, they said. Tiwari and the MLAs are also understood to have conveyed to Gandhi their views on Samajwadi Party's desire to seek Congress support for forming an alternate government.
