Bhopal, Nov 13: In a bid to prevent possible tampering of Electronic Voting Machines to be used in the coming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, the Election Commission would allocate the machines randomly in all constituencies.
On lines of deployment of polling booth personnel, the EVMs would also be employed in a random manner, official sources here said adding District Election Officers (DEOs) have been asked to ensure the move.

In addition, technical experts from electronic corporation of India, makers of the EVMs, would be engaged for sealing them during polling and counting of votes in all constituencies.

As many as 49,240 EVMs are being made available for polling in 230 assembly seats in the state and each district has been given ten per cent more number of machines than the number of polling stations.

Returning officers would inform the candidates concerned about the preparations of the machines a week in advance in order to make the process transparent and sealing would be done during November 21-26, they said. Bureau Report
