Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) has allowed eight hours' relaxation in the hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling on Sunday as the party sponsored indefinite bandh, which witnessed stray violence, entered the sixth day on Saturday.

During the recess from 8 am to 4 pm on Sunday, all shops, markets and business establishments would be allowed to function and all vehicles would ply to help stranded tourists and students leave the bandh-hit Darjeeling, Kurseong and Kalimpong hill subdivision areas, GNLF Darjeeling unit President Dipak Gurung told PTI after a meeting of three branch committees of the party.
The bandh would be reclamped at 4 pm for an indefinite period to press for the arrest of the 'masterminds' behind the attack on GNLF president and Darjeeling Gorkha hill council chairman Subash Ghising in February and seizure of all sophisticated weapons used during it.

Darjeeling SP Sanjay Chander said on Saturday, bandh activists set on fire a hill-bound jeep and damaged an ambulance near Kurseong on Friday night. Another jeep which was used by the bandh supporters was seized and the driver arrested.
