Two former HVP ministers arrested on corruption charges
Chandigarh, June 25: Two former ministers in Bansi Lal led Haryana Vikas Party (HVP) ministry in the state were arrested by the state vigilance bureau on the charge of allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

arrested by the state vigilance bureau on the charge of
allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to their known
sources of income.
Former cooperation minister Rao Narbir Singh was arrested
from his Gurgaon residence today, a police spokesman told a news agency.
The case against Singh was registered at the vigilance police
station in Gurgaon after completion of an enquiry being
conducted since past two years.
Rao had shown less assets in his income tax returns, the
police spokesman said, adding that the former minister would
be produced in a local court tomorrow.
His colleague Vinod Maria was arrested on similar charges from his residence at Panchkula yesterday, an official release said here today. A case had been registered against Maria under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Ambala yesterday on the basis of an enquiry by the bureau. Maria was minister from January 15, 1997 to December 4, 1999 and during this period he allegedly purchased 2.75 acres of land in Sunderpur Dhani village near Barwala in Panchkula district in the name of his son vishal and a relative Krishan Gopal, who were made proprietors in a poultry.
