"I have reasons to believe that there is pick up in the economy in various sectors and that gives us hope that the current year will be better for economic growth and from the revenue collection point of view," Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha told reporters on the sidelines of state finance ministers' meet here.
The minister said he saw some signs of revival and one of the signs was better indirect tax collections, especially on the excise front, in the last two months.
After the dismal performance in the last fiscal, total tax mop up has improved substantially and posted 20 per cent growth at over Rs 153 bn in the first two months with the economy showing signs of recovery. Bureau Report
