Chennai, Dec 27: Punjab is planning to set up a separate university for the animal sciences resembling the Tamil Nadu university for veterinary and animal sciences. Disclosing this, the Punjab minister for animal husbandry, dairy development and fisheries, Jagmohan Singh Kang, told reporters here today that it would help the Punjab farmers to diversify their activities.

Farmers in Punjab were unable to sell their surplus food grains and they have to look in for agricultural related activities to augment their income, he said, adding that animal husbandry could play a major role in this.
The minister said he was impressed by the work done by the Tamil Nadu university and his government would copy the role model of the Tamil Nadu university for the proposed university in Punjab. Bureau Report
